Meet Our Board

Kelly Jo fell in love with South Africa during her first trip with U-SA Cares for life in 2015. Five years later, she started the process to adopt a sibling group. In 2023, she adopted two sisters, Selinah and Finah, from South Africa. Now it is their family’s goal to see an end to the extreme poverty and help provide a platform for the citizens of South Africa to realize their full potential. Kelly brings with her a bachelor’s degree in human development and Family planning, over 20 years of leadership in the work force and a love for the people and country of South Africa.

Rose had the incredible opportunity to go to South Africa in 2000 and came back with such a desire to support the needs of abandoned babies and unwed mothers living in destitute situations. U-SA Cares for Life was established over 20 years ago with a sole purpose of serving the needs of SA Cares for Life. As founder of U—SA Cares, she continues to have a love for the people of South Africa and is looking forward to her 25th trip in the next year. While she is not in South Africa, she enjoys spending time with her 3 grandsons in Utah, hiking and fellowshipping with family and friends.

Leslie’s journey through 12 different countries has shaped her perspective and deepened her passion for connecting with people. Whether sharing meals in rural villages or navigating bustling city markets, she treasures the stories and resilience of those she’s met. Her travel experiences have not only broadened her appreciation for different cultures but have also enriched her mission to help others discover their identity in Christ and live with purpose. From leading faith discussions in community centers to inspiring individuals through one-on-one conversations, Leslie’s heart for people shines in everything she does.

Kelsey is an avid traveler passionate about exploring new cultures and the beauty of the world. She loves spending time outdoors with her friends and family. Kelsey’s faith in Jesus is central to her life, driving her commitment to caring for people globally.

Jamie is a mom of three from Utah who loves to travel—not just to see new places, but to really connect with the culture and stories of people she meets. Her visit to South Africa in 2023 made her feel even more passionate about supporting communities in meaningful ways. With years of experience as an entrepreneur and a background in mission work that began in 1998, Jamie naturally gravitates toward roles that let her organize, connect, and build relationships. She genuinely cares about people and is dedicated to making a difference in ways that last.

Teri Howard joined the Board of US-A Cares in 2015. In 2017 she had the privilege of travelling to South Africa and meeting the leaders and workers of SA Cares and many of the people they serve. She was forever changed by the experience and the testimonies of everyone she met, and has a deep desire to continue spreading their story here in the US.
